Illinois Man Injured in 3-Car Crash

One person was injured in a three-vehicle accident at an intersection in Lemont, Illinois Tuesday.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the four-way intersection of Walker and McCarthey roads. The driver who caused the accident was traveling south on Walker Road, entered the intersection and clipped the rear of a car driving eastbound on McCarthy Road. The force of the impact sent the eastbound car into on-coming traffic where it was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that entered the intersection was transported to Bolingbrook Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say. The injured man was also cited for failure to yield.

The other two drivers were uninjured in the crash.

Two children in critical condition following house fire in Kankakee

Two children were airlifted to the Loyola Medical Center in Maywood after a house fire in Kankakee left both in critical condition on Friday morning. Authorities believe that a medical oxygen tank and a neglected frying pan may have contributed to the early morning blaze that filled the home with fire and smoke. The children, ages 12 and 4 were airlifted to the hospital for smoke inhalation and remain in critical condition.

Infant killed in SUV rollover accident

Authorities say that a 2-month old boy was killed on Saturday afternoon when the SUV he was riding in drove off of the roadway and onto the median and overturned. According to sources familiar with the case, the child may not have been properly placed in a safety restraint or the device may not have been properly installed in the vehicle, and he was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. A 51-year old woman and a 17-year old passenger were also injured in the crash and were transported to Iroquois Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Avondale Man Charged in Hit-and-Run, 5 Injured

A man from Avondale has been charged with three felonies after allegedly fleeing the scene of a three-car accident on Chicago’s Near North Side that left five people injured.

Police say Michael McFaul was traveling east on West Division Street and collided with two taxis shortly before 4:00 a.m. Sunday. The 30 year-old McFaul has been charged with three felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident.

According to a statement released by police News Affairs, five ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the accident. Two people in one cab were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Three pedestrians were also injured in the crash. All three suffered leg injuries and are listed in serious to critical condition at local hospitals.

1 Killed, 2 Injured in Illinois Car Accident

A woman was killed Tuesday afternoon in a head-on car crash on Illinois Route 160.

Barbara Green was traveling southbound on Route 160 when a car driven by James Griesbaum swerved into the lane and struck Green’s vehicle head-on. Green was transported via helicopter to St. Louis University hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Greisbaum and his passenger Ressie Woodcock were also injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital. Greisbaum is listed in serious condition and Woodcock is in critical condition. It was reported that Griesbaum may not have been wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Police say that alcohol has been confirmed as a factor in the crash.

Weather Blamed in Two Illinois Accidents

Gusty winds, heavy snow, and icy roads are being blamed for two crashes which occurred Wednesday morning on Interstate 57, south of the town of Manteno.

According to police, the low visibility and perilous road conditions led to a southbound pickup truck losing its grip on the road and sliding into a ditch, where it was hit by a second vehicle at approximately 5 o’clock in the morning. Further details are not known.

The terrible weather had reduced visibility to less than a mile as of 6:45 in the morning, according to the weather service at Greater Kankakee Airport. The heavy winds are expected to make travel difficult until they abate.

Minier Woman Killed in I-74 Crash

A woman from Tazewell County had died as a result of a three-car accident on Interstate 74 Friday evening in Champaign County.

27-year-old Minier resident Jennifer Kautz was a passenger in a pick-up truck that crossed the center median and struck a westbound semi head-on.

According to information released by Illinois State Police District 10 in Pesotum, 28 year-old Chad Kautz was driving the pick-up truck eastbound on I-74, near Mahomet, shortly before 6:00 p.m when he collided with a semi-truck driven by Terry Eugene Chamberlain. Authorities did not disclose Chamberlain’s age or place of residence.

After crashing into Kautz’s pickup, the semi-truck also struck a vehicle driven by Winella Howard. No information on Howard is available.
